JAKARTA — Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (BTPN) has appointed seasoned banking executive Michellina Laksmi Triwardhany as Deputy President Director, further strengthening its top leadership team as part of a broader management reshuffle.
According to a disclosure filed with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Friday, Jun 6, 2025, the leadership update was conveyed through Letter No. S.051/CCS/VI/2025, outlining the new composition of the board of directors and board of commissioners.
Henoch Munandar will remain as President Director, while Jun Saito has officially assumed his role as Deputy President Director effective May 23, 2025. Triwardhany’s appointment is still subject to approval by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
The restructuring leaves several other board members in place, including Dini Herdini, Yuki Terayama, Merisa Darwis, Hanna Tantani, and Atsushi Hino. The board of commissioners also remains unchanged, led by President Commissioner Chow Ying Hoong, with Takeshi Kimoto, Ninik Herlani Masli Ridhwan, Kusumaningtuti Sandriharmy Soetiono, Onny Widjanarko, and Marita Alisjahbana continuing their oversight roles.
Who is Michellina Laksmi Triwardhany?
Michellina Laksmi Triwardhany brings more than three decades of leadership experience in banking and insurance. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas in 1987 and later completed an MBA in Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990.
Her career began at Citibank in 1990, starting as a Quality Assurance Officer before moving to Financial Control Officer, and eventually becoming Card Business Director by 2001. After a brief stint with Hong Kong’s Manhattan Credit Card Company, she returned to Citibank in 2003 in the same card business role and rose to become Country Business Head by 2009.
In December 2009, Triwardhany joined PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (BDMN) as Vice President Director, a position she held for over a decade. In 2021, she transitioned to the insurance sector, taking the helm as President Director of Prudential Life Insurance Indonesia, a role she held until March 2024.
Her return to banking via SMBC Indonesia signals the lender’s intention to leverage her vast expertise in consumer banking and financial services innovation.
