JAKARTA, investortrust.id — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has personally congratulated Singapore’s newly appointed Prime Minister Lawrence Wong following his party’s landslide victory in the country’s recent general election, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening ties with its closest regional neighbor.

Speaking by phone on Monday, May 5, 2025, Prabowo expressed his admiration for the outcome of Singapore’s parliamentary election, which saw the ruling People’s Action Party, or PAP, secure a dominant majority under Wong’s leadership. The party won 87 out of 97 seats in the unicameral legislature, capturing 65.57% of the vote from over 2.4 million ballots cast.
