Key Takeaways

JAKARTA, investortrust.id — Xiaomi has reclaimed its position as the leading smartphone brand in Indonesia, securing a 19% market share in the first quarter of 2025, according to a report by research firm Canalys released in May.
This marks the continuation of Xiaomi’s dominance since the second quarter of 2024, despite ongoing challenges in the global supply chain and currency volatility.
“We are deeply grateful for the trust of Indonesian consumers. This milestone reflects our commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of the market,” said Wentao Zhao, Country Director Xiaomi Indonesia, in a statement to Investortrust.id on Tuesday.
Xiaomi’s diverse product lineup has been central to its performance across different segments. In the entry-level category, the Redmi A5 offers competitive specifications at an affordable price. Meanwhile, the mid-range Redmi Note 14 Series has drawn attention with camera upgrades and refreshed design.
In the premium segment, the flagship Xiaomi 15 series—developed in collaboration with German optics brand Leica—has appealed to photography enthusiasts and power users, including those previously loyal to global premium brands.
Statista data shows that Indonesia shipped more than 10.2 million smartphones in Q1 2025, a slight increase from the previous quarter. Xiaomi was a key contributor to this growth.
Zhao also credited Xiaomi’s robust nationwide distribution—both offline and online—as a critical factor behind its success. The company has intensified its presence across local e-commerce platforms to further strengthen market reach.
In addition to smartphones, Xiaomi has been building a broader AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) ecosystem in recent months. Its portfolio now includes smart TVs, smart bands, and other connected home devices tailored to the digital lifestyles of Indonesian consumers.
The top five smartphone brands in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2025, according to Canalys, were Xiaomi with 19% market share, Oppo with 18% share, and Transsion Group, Samsung and Vivo with 17% share each. Transsion Group includes the following brands: Infinix, Tecno, and Itel.
The tight race underscores that innovation and efficient distribution strategies remain decisive factors in winning over Indonesian consumers.
