● The program includes a plan to build 1,000 Nutritious Food Service Units across multiple Indonesian islands.
● The initiative is part of President Prabowo’s long-term vision for national development and food security.

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and France’s Medef International have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), a flagship initiative of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.

The agreement, signed by Head of Kadin’s MBG Task Force Handojo S. Muljadi and Medef International CEO Philippe Gautier, was formalized during the 2025 Indonesia-France Business Forum in Jakarta. The event was also attended by French Minister for the Economy and Finance Eric Lombard and Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

“Kadin has signed a cooperation agreement with Medef, the French chamber of commerce, to work together on the MBG initiative,” said Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie in his speech at the forum held at the A.A. Maramis Building, Ministry of Economic Affairs complex.

Anindya revealed that Kadin aims to establish 1,000 Nutritious Food Service Units (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi, or SPPG) in various regions of Indonesia to support the MBG program.

“Medef and its network have expressed willingness to assist in various areas,” he added.

The SPPG facilities are designed to produce and distribute nutritious meals to underserved communities, particularly children, aligning with Indonesia’s broader vision of building a healthier and more productive generation by 2045.

Handojo, who has supported similar initiatives since 2006, emphasized that the program has been well thought out in terms of financing and implementation strategy. “That’s why I am increasingly confident in the MBG program as a pillar of Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said, referring to the national vision for a golden Indonesia.

In front of French business delegates, Handojo pledged to dedicate his business expertise to the successful rollout of the 1,000 SPPG project under Kadin. He noted that the pilot units will be distributed across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, and serve as benchmarks for future expansions.

“These 1,000 SPPG will serve as a model for how the MBG can be effectively implemented with appropriate quality standards,” he said.

The initiative is one of four “quick win” programs currently prioritized by Kadin. Handojo expressed hope that the pilot project would eventually produce a practical guidebook for Kadin members looking to participate in establishing food production sites.
